Introduction

Please call me Orchid.
It is not a lie to have said to my students that, "I read over 400 books a year." As their jaws drop, I confess to them that I read two or more books to my daughter each night... and smile while some of them think I am cheating to count picture books. I also read chapter books, copious young adult books, and at least twenty adult books each year.

I eavesdrop on the technological world everyday. There are numerous blogs I read, along with Twitters and message boards. I do not want to put my private information on a public board or blog. It feels uncomfortable. I have no problem with responding to assignments and giving my opinions, etc. Here is what I'm willing to share in order to create a community:
I am a middle-aged female
Married, with one child
Teacher for five years
Librarian for ten years
Currently out of work because of lay-offs
